HOW INSURANCE COMPANIES TRY TO TRICK YOU AFTER A WRONGFUL DEATH

After a catastrophic car accident, you’ll have many offers to help.

But one offer you should be wary of is an offer from the insurance company.

They often reach out immediately, and they may even offer to pay for burial expenses. This may seem like a really generous offer especially since funerals can be costly.

But this offer may be a trojan horse in disguise. Let me explain.

I had a client whose husband had tragically been killed while he was driving for his company. The insurance company of the guy who hit him reached out to his wife immediately and offered to pay for the burial expenses, which seemed very helpful because she didn’t have the money to pay for it.

But in that process, they also tried to get her to sign documents that would have basically gotten their driver off the hook for the damage he caused.

Fortunately, she contacted me when she did, and I was able to take over handling the case for her and dealing with the insurance company, which was something she really didn’t want to do anyway.

So if you or someone you know has tragically lost someone in a car wreck, be very careful about dealing with the insurance company. Don’t sign anything they give you or agree to any offers they make without first speaking to a lawyer.

And of course if you need help figuring out if the insurance company is trying to help you or trick you, just give us a call and we can take a look at it for you.
